In 2014 Anna-Liisa Eller graduated cum laude from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in kannel – an Estonian traditional plucked string instrument (zither family). In 2013 she studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse de Lyon with Professor Yves Rechsteiner and Professor Rolf Lislevand and in 2013/2014 at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen with Professor Rolf Lislevand.
At the moment she continues her doctoral studies at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Estonia. She has successfully participated in several international kannel competitions, most recently she won the „Koistinen kantele first special prize“ in Helsinki, Finland 2011.
Since 2010 Anna-Liisa teaches the kannel at the Georg Ots Tallinn Music School and since 2016 she teaches at the Tallinn Music School. Her main focus is on Early Music and Contemporary Music. Anna-Liisa works in close cooperation with several Early Music ensembles such as the ensemble Supersonus (their first CD is planned to be released by ECM Records in fall 2017), the ensemble Kapsberger, the ensemble Oni Wytars, the ensemble Vox Clamantis, the ensemble Rondellus, and the ensemble Floridante etc. Anna-Liisa plays a kannel specially made for her by Otto Koistinen.
