Marco Ambrosini

Schlüsselfidel (Nyckelharpa)

Marco Ambrosini was born in Forlì / Italy in 1964. He studied violin and composition in the Musical Institute G. B. Pergolesi in Ancona and in the Conservatory G. Rossini in Pesaro and played with the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, various chamber orchestras and ensembles of Early, Baroque and Contemporary music.

In 1982 he and Peter Rabanser founded the international ensemble Oni Wytars, with which he is still performing. Since 1991 he is performing as a soloist for the Clemencic Consort in Vienna. During the same year he also becames the artistic director (together with Katharina Dustmann) of the Studio Katharco – sound:creations.

As a soloist and nyckelharpa player he had concerts at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, for the Royal Swedish Concert Agency, at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, at the Philharmony in cities such as Cologne, Berlin and Moscow and at the Carnegie Hall in New York.

Together with Carlo Rizzo, Jean-Louis Matinier, Valentin Clastrier and Michael Riessler he participated in numerous concerts and radio recordings of jazz music. He was chosen as newcomer and composer for the New Jazz Meeting 1993 by the German radio SWF.

During his career he had participated in numerous radio, television and CD productions and he has had concerts as a solo artist, as composer and as a member of ensembles such as Oni Wytars, Els Trobadors, Unicorn, Accentus, Clemencic Consort, Armonico Tributo, Ensemble Kapsberger, Camerata Nordica, La Chimera and Vox Clamantis. He also worked with artists such as Lucilla Galeazzi, Jean-Louis Matinier, Michael Riessler and others.

Marco Ambrosini is an ECM-artist and togehter with his ensemble Oni Wytars he is a member of the music label Deutsche Harmonia Mundi.

Furthermore he is an active teaching and holds master classes and workshops all over Europe and also in China.
